Chief Instructor
Guiding practice with experience, patience, and care
James Landry
James Landry has devoted decades to the study and teaching of aikido. As chief instructor of Aiki Spokane Roshinkan, he brings a deep commitment to authentic practice together with a warm, welcoming approach that meets each student where they are.
He trained as an uchi-deshi (live-in disciple) of the late Fumio Toyoda Shihan until Toyoda's passing in 2001. He then followed Andrew Sato Shihan to the Aikido World Alliance and has remained with the organization ever since its founding — a direct, unbroken line to the teachers who shaped his practice.
His teaching emphasizes the cooperative heart of aikido — the development of character, composure, and the quiet joy of training together in mutual respect.
A Word on Teaching
